Windows FAQ

OEM vs Retail: What is the difference?

Features

Both OEM and Retail versions offer the same features, updates, and functions, providing the full Windows experience.

Hardware Changes

With a Retail license, you can replace any part of your computer. An OEM license, however, only allows you to replace all parts except the motherboard, as the license is tied to it.

Upgrades

Upgrading from Home to Pro is only possible with a Retail license.

License Transfers

A Retail license can be moved to another computer (one at a time), while an OEM license is tied to the activated computer and cannot be transferred.

Support

Retail license holders can contact Microsoft Support for help with hardware compatibility or other issues. OEM license holders will be referred to their device manufacturer for assistance.

When you purchase a license from Keyswiftly.com, you get free technical support throughout the whole process.

Windows 11 Home vs Pro - What are the differences?

In this article, we’ll guide you through the various versions of Windows 11, explaining their differences and implications to help you make an informed decision.

By the end of this comprehensive guide, we aim to ensure you know precisely which Windows 11 edition is the perfect fit for your needs.

Windows 11 Home vs Pro: What’s the Difference?

The latest Windows release promises a comprehensive upgrade from its predecessor and delivers various benefits to users. Although Windows 11 Home and Pro share many features, they also have some significant differences, which we will outline below.

Hardware Limitations

Windows 11 Home supports up to 128 GB of RAM and a single processor, while Pro users can have up to 2 TB of RAM and dual processors. Most users won’t need to worry about reaching Home’s hardware limits, but if your system exceeds them, Pro will offer a notably faster experience.

Local Account

Microsoft has altered the login process in Windows 11. Home users must sign in with a Microsoft account to complete the initial installation, while Pro users can create a local account, bypassing the Microsoft account and constant internet connection requirements.

BitLocker Device Encryption Feature

Pro users have access to BitLocker encryption, a feature not available for Home users. BitLocker encrypts all files on your hard drive, ensuring data privacy and protecting your information even if your computer is stolen.

Hyper-V

Windows 11 Pro includes Hyper-V support, allowing users to create virtual machines on their computers. Alternative virtualization programs like VirtualBox and VMWare are available for home users but lack the same level of features and performance as Hyper-V.

Group Policy Editor

The Group Policy Editor, a powerful tool for managing Windows settings, is exclusive to Pro users. IT administrators can use it to restrict access to specific applications, disable hardware components, and make other low-level changes to the operating system.

Windows Information Protection (WIP)

Windows 11 Pro offers extra security features like Windows Information Protection (WIP), which helps keep personal and work data separate, reducing the risk of accidental data leakage.

Enhanced Business Management Features in Windows 11 Pro

Windows 11 Pro offers extra enterprise management features, providing added security for work devices.

  1. Windows Update for Business: This feature allows IT administrators to manage and control updates, ensuring devices stay up-to-date and secure.
  2. Microsoft Store for Business: A tailored store that enables organizations to find, acquire, and manage apps for their workforce.
  3. Kiosk Mode: This feature allows businesses to set up and configure devices for single-purpose use, such as digital signage or customer-facing devices.
  4. Azure Active Directory: A cloud-based identity management service that helps organizations manage access to applications, devices, and resources.
  5. Active Directory: A directory service used to manage users, groups, and devices within an organization, streamlining access and security control.
  6. Enterprise State Roaming with Azure: This feature enables users to sync their settings and app data across devices while maintaining a secure separation between personal and corporate data.
  7. Dynamic Provisioning: Allows IT administrators to easily provision and configure devices for users, customizing settings to suit the organization’s requirements.

So which Windows 11 should you buy?

Consider whether you’ll truly benefit from the additional features offered by Windows 11 Pro. If not, Windows 11 Home is the right choice for you.

Now that you’ve decided on the Windows version, it’s time to determine the most suitable license type.

Choose a Retail license for added security and support from both us and Microsoft, especially if you plan to change your computer in the near future. On the other hand, if you don’t anticipate changing your computer or motherboard and don’t require Microsoft support, an OEM license is a better fit.

We hope this article has been helpful. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.

Please note that you will need a valid license key for the version of Windows you are installing on the other computer. Also, keep in mind that the installation process will erase all data on the hard drive, so be sure to back up any important files before proceeding.

Will a clean installation of Windows result in data loss?

During a clean installation of the operating system, all files and programs will be lost. We recommend that you save your important files to cloud storage or an external hard drive before proceeding with the installation and then transfer them back after the installation is complete.

Programs must be reinstalled after the clean installation, as they may have compatibility issues with newer versions of Windows. A clean installation is recommended for optimal compatibility and stability.

While it is possible to perform an installation without losing data, we do not provide support for this method as it may cause issues and the results are uncertain. We highly recommend a clean installation, made easy with our step-by-step instructions and free technical support included in every purchase. Get started in no time!

Office Suites vs Microsoft 365 - What are the differences?

Microsoft Office Suite Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus (PC) and Microsoft 365 are both developed by Microsoft, but there is a key difference between the two. Office Suite follows a one-time purchase model, allowing you to own the software indefinitely, while Microsoft 365 is subscription-based, our version offers lifetime for 5 devices.

Office Suite is an excellent option for those seeking reliable and robust word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools. It includes well-established programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, trusted and utilized by millions worldwide.

One of the major advantages of Office Suite is that it grants full control over the software. Office Suite is also ideal for users who don’t require Microsoft 365’s additional features, as many may not need collaboration or automation platforms.

At the same time, Office Suite provides advanced features for those who require them, such as Excel macro building, integration with other programs, and real-time collaboration capabilities.

If you’re seeking dependable and powerful word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools with complete control over the software, Office Suite is the right choice. It equips you with everything needed to create professional documents and collaborate with others without burdening you with unnecessary features or costs.

Features of Microsoft 365 not available in Office Suite

Microsoft 365 offers a range of extra features that are not available in the Office suite. Here are some of the most important ones:

  • OneDrive: OneDrive is a cloud service that enables you to store and synchronize your files, allowing access from any device with an internet connection.
  • Exchange Online: This email service, included in Microsoft 365, lets you create professional email addresses and manage your email.

Windows Error Code: 0x80072F8F-0x20000

This guide will help you fix the error code 0x80072F8F-0x20000 that occurs while using the Media Creation Tool for Windows 7/8.

Method 1: Easiest (Windows 7 only)

This covers the Microsoft update that enables support for TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 through the package KB3140245. Follow these instructions:

  1. Download the package KB3140245, but do not run it yet.
  2. Download the “Easy Fix” executable file from the link provided (direct download) and run it. This fix creates the DefaultSecureProtocols registry value, which is a prerequisite for the Microsoft update.
  3. Now, run the KB3140245 .msi package that you downloaded in step 1.
  4. This process will automatically enable TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 on your computer.

Method 2: Turn on TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 via the registry (Windows 7 & 8)

  1. Ensure your system is fully updated.
  2. Open Notepad.
  3. Copy the following lines into Notepad.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\WinHttp]
"DefaultSecureProtocols"=dword:00000a00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\WinHttp]
"DefaultSecureProtocols"=dword:00000a00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.1\Client]
"DisabledByDefault"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2\Client]
"DisabledByDefault"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
  1. Save the file with a .reg extension – for example, enable_tls.reg.
  2. Double-click the enable_tls.reg file to apply the settings in the registry. Click Yes when asked to confirm.
  3. For Windows 7 users, download package KB3140245 (TLS 1.1/1.2 Enabling Update) from Microsoft and install it. This step might not be necessary for Windows 8 users.
  4. Restart Windows.

Download ready-made registry files

If you prefer to download ready-made registry files, you can download the enable-tls.zip file. Unzip the file and run the included enable_tls.reg file. To revert the settings to the default values for Windows 7/8, run the registry file undo.reg.

About our pricing

We prioritize affordability as a key aspect of our business model. We understand that many consumers are looking for software at a reasonable price, and we strive to meet that demand.

Our management team boasts over thirty years of combined industry experience and has built an extensive network. By exclusively dealing with digital products, we can significantly save on postage and related costs, ensuring our prices remain highly competitive.

In addition, we may also offer special promotions or discounts that further lower the price of our products. These discounts may be seasonal, tied to specific events or holidays, or offered as a way to clear inventory.

Ultimately, our goal is to make software accessible to as many people as possible without compromising on the quality of service or delivery. We believe that everyone deserves access to affordable, high-quality products, and we work hard to ensure that our pricing reflects that belief.

What is your email response time?

We prioritize our customers and aim to respond within a couple of hours Monday to Friday, between 8 AM to 5 PM (UTC).

During weekends, non-business hours, and holidays, responses might take longer, but we aim to reply within 24 hours. For quick questions, our live chat is usually available, while email is better suited for technical issues.

Do you have a physical store?

Unfortunately, we do not have any physical stores at this time. We exclusively sell our products online as digital product keys. By doing so, we are able to save on costs and offer our products at a lower price to our customers. We understand that some customers may prefer the convenience of purchasing products in a physical store, but we are confident that our online shop is secure and efficient. If you have any questions or concerns about our online shop, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Do you offer bulk discounts?

If you require a larger quantity of software and operating systems for your company and employees, simply get in touch with us with the details of the products, the desired quantity, and the expected delivery date. We will provide you with a quote for your request.

Can I use the same USB stick to install Windows on another computer?

Yes, it is possible to use the same USB stick you used to create the installation media on one computer to install Windows on another computer. Insert the USB stick into the other computer’s USB port, restart the computer, and boot from the USB stick to begin the installation process.
