Office: Installation is stuck

Problem: Installation of Microsoft Office has stopped or got stuck.

Cause: Installations can sometimes take longer depending on the speed of your hard drive and your internet connection.

Solution: If the installation shows no progress for an extended period without moving, you can follow these five steps below to resume and complete the installation.

Step 1: Uninstall previous Office suites

Uninstall any old versions of Office before starting the installation of the new Microsoft Office.

Step 2: Administrator rights

Run the setup program as an administrator by right-clicking on it and selecting “Run as administrator”.

Step 3: Disable antivirus software

Sometimes antivirus software can prevent the installation of new software. Try temporarily disabling it while you install Office.

Step 4: Clear temporary files

Sometimes temporary files from previous installation attempts can interfere with new installations. Clear these by typing %temp% in the Run dialog box (Windows key + R), select all and delete.

Step 5: Check disk space

Make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to install the program.
